Music, artisans, and pie at the 21st annual Braham Pie Day

Friday, August 6th is the 21st annual Braham Pie Day.  The first piece of pie will be served at 10 a.m. in downtown Braham in Freedom Park on Hwy 107.

While eating pie visitors can enjoy the entertainment from the Heatherlyn from Minneapolis, the Chmielewski Fun Time Band,  Rumgumption at Celtic band, and the Pie-Alluia Chorus.  Visitors will also have a chance to meet the Pie Day cast of roving characters, Mr. Pastry, the Berry Fairy and the Queen of Tarts. Guests can partake in the pie baking contest, which opens for submissions at the Braham Ev. Lutheran Church in the morning, with an auction of the winning pies in the afternoon.

Other events include two pie eating contests, the Pie Art and Hat Show, the craft show in the park and the Small Quilts Show at City Hall, the Sweet as Pie Collector’s Car Show, the Pi-Cycle Show and the “Pie in the Sky or Pie in Your Eye” trivia contest.  Activities continue on Sunday, August 8 with a Celebration of Praise at 6:30 p.m. in Freedom Park.

The event is made possible in part through funding from many local sponsors.   The Rural American Bank, and is sponsoring the stage entertainment. The City of Braham and East Central Sanitation provides logistic support. Grand Casino Hinckley, the Cambridge Medical Center and East Central Energy are also sponsors. Some components of the festival program are supported with funds by a grant from the East Central Regional Arts Council  and Forecast Public artworks with funds provided by the Minnesota arts and cultural heritage fund appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.

Remember, You can't help but smile when you say "pie."
